Camp Valaqua runs Wilderness Out-trips for campers 12 years and older.  Out-trippers spend the first night at Valaqua getting organized and ready to go and then hit the road the following morning and spend the week in the great outdoors.  Our Out-trip leaders facilitate safe and adventurous trips in some of the most beautiful places Alberta has to offer.

Jr Canoe  (AGES 12-15) - Juy 16-21 $450

This program is full with an open waitlist

An introduction to canoe tripping for campers with little or no paddling experience. Canoe campers spend Sunday night at Valaqua getting organised and ready and then head out Monday morning.  The trip follows the Red Deer River from Red Deer to Drumheller through the amazing badlands.  Campers camp each night beside the river.

BACKPACK Camp (AGES 12-15) - August 7-11 $450

Meant for first time backpackers, this trip explores the Ya Ha Tinda with shorter hiking days and day trips. A great way to get a feel for wilderness backcountry travel. Campers need personal backcountry equipment (sleeping bag and pad, chow kit) and a backpack with a minimum of 45 litre capacity.

sR. Canoe  (AGES 13-17) - July 23-28 $475

Taking the Canoe trip just a little further!  The Sr Canoe trip involves more advanced water and longer days on the river help campers expand their paddling abilities.  Some canoe experience is recommended.  Campers need personal backcountry equipment (sleeping bag and pad, chow kit) and waterproof dry bags or barrels to hold their personal equipment.

aDVENTURE TRAINING CAMP (ATC)  (AGES 13-17) - August 13-18 $475

This program is full with an open waitlist

A trip aimed at skill and leadership development in the backcountry. Participants will canoe, backpack and gain skill certifications in these disciplines.  Some backcountry experience is recommended.  Campers need personal backcountry equipment (sleeping bag and pad, chow kit) and a backpack with a minimum of 45 litre capacity.
